ALUMNI PANEL REPORT

Executive Summary

The goal behind our Alumni Panel was to bring English majors and minors together to learn about what life is truly like after college. It would give students a glimpse into careers for English graduates. The Panel was held in the Watson Literacy Center on November 19th from 6 pm to 7 pm. Our five panelists included Alayna Howard, Bridget Barta, Mikaelah Barzee, Kelli Lycke, and Kalli Cheffey. These ladies represented current English teachers, graduate students, content writers, and residence life coordinators. One of these panelists Zoomed into the panel via an iPad. Our moderator was Professor Glenn Lester, a current Park instructor of creative writing. The intended audience was English majors and minors, or students who are interested in or considering the English field. Our actual audience included six students outside of our event group of four people, including a few non-English majors or minors, as well as three faculty and staff members for a total of thirteen attendees. They learned a better understanding of what can be done with an English degree and, for the students, what to expect in years to come before and upon graduation. We also provided a light dinner, including sandwiches, fruit, and water.
